Know The Difference Between True And False Discernment

We Are All Flawed. Don’t be deceived by the misconception of who you are because you fail to accept the truth about who you are. Stop misinterpreting the message when you don’t want to hear or admit the truth about yourself. Learn the difference between true discernment and false discernment and don’t fall prey to masked deception.

The Gift of Discernment and the Word of God

The gift of discernment is the ability to recognize what is genuine from what is deception; what is of God from what is not of God. This is supported by Hebrews 4:12: “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

Understanding False Discernment

People often confuse true discernment with false discernment. This misconception is often characterized by the following traits:

  • A false perception of reality
  • Criticism and judgment
  • Lack of trust and lack of faith
  • An inability to love with God’s love
  • Past experiences if they possibly may not have truly healed

Universal Application of the Gospel

The gospel is for everyone, as God’s grace offers salvation to everyone (Titus 2:11). God doesn’t use ministers of the gospel or witnesses to pick and choose who the Word applies to. It speaks to every situation no matter who you are. Although all of our situations are different, the Word in any instance applies to each and every one of us and can be applied to every area of our lives; if and when we allow it.

However, it is up to you to recognize when it does and not blame others because you fail to see what is in the heart of another when blinded by your own flaws. As long as you are in the right standing with God don’t worry about where you stand with others.
