THE MILLENNIAL REIGN OF CHRIST ON EARTH

Biblical Foundation of the Millennium

Key verse: Isaiah 9: 7 — “Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”

The following scripture from Revelation 20:7-10 describes the events surrounding this time:

  • 7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
  • 8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
  • 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
  • 10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

The Establishment of the Kingdom

During the battle of Armageddon, the Antichrist shall be arrested and cast into the lake of fire with all the demons and Satan himself shall be bound and cast into the bottomless pit. At this point the Messiah will take over the authority and Lordship of the world as the ruler of the whole world with His seat in Jerusalem from where He shall rule over the whole world for a thousand years, referred to as the millennial reign of Christ. During this millennial reign peace and righteousness shall fill the world as the waters cover the sea.

Governance and the Role of Saints

The organization of this earth shall be in the hands of Christ who knows how to handle it. The world will still remain the natural world at that time and saints shall be appointed to rule over different nations of the world according to their faithfulness in the work they did for the Lord during their life time. Based on the provided material, the governance roles include:

  • Governors of various states
  • Ministers
  • Senators
  • Commissioners, among others.

The End of the Millennium and Final Trial

Although Satan and his demons have been bound and cast into the bottomless pit for this period, yet to depict the inherited nature of sin from Adam, sinners shall still be found in this period. These sinners shall be tempted by Satan at the end of the millennium when he shall be loosed from the bottomless pit. He shall go about to deceive the nations and they shall believe and follow him, despite the presence of the Lord Jesus the Prince of peace on the earth. Many people shall still accept and go back to occultism and evil practices even though at this time Jesus Christ will be physically here on earth. After these 1000 years, Satan shall be loosed to try people again for the last time, and those that will go with him shall be destroyed in the battle of Gog and Magog.

Thought for the day: Do your work well to rule with Christ for a thousand years. Lord God, please qualify us to reign with Jesus, when he comes to reign in power during the millennium. May all glory all honor and power be unto the Lord God forever and ever in Jesus name Amen.
