The Grace Of God

The grace of God can do many things in our lives. As many believe, the grace of God saves, sustains and sanctifies us. From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. Grace loves us even though we are undeserving of love.

Scriptural Foundations of Grace

According to John 1:14, "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, FULL OF GRACE AND TRUTH." Further emphasizing this point, John 1:16 notes that from the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another.

Saved by Grace and Not by Performance

We must realize that we are saved by grace and not by performance? In our daily lives, as kids, we are taught that if you want something, you have to earn it. As adults, we know that if we want a sales award, we’ve got to go out and sell, and if we want a promotion, we have to put in the long hours. However, Biblical teaching regarding the grace of God offers a different perspective.

The Apostle’s Paul use of the word "grace" is clearly seen in 1 Corinthians 15:10: "But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me."

Denominational Perspectives on Grace

The following data highlights the distribution of sermon resources focusing on the grace of God across various denominations:

Denomination Sermon Count
Baptist 64,576
Evangelical/Non-Denominational 24,579
Christian/Church Of Christ 18,205
Pentecostal 16,238
Assembly Of God 11,003
Independent/Bible 8,657

Ultimately, as stated in Ephesians 2:8, 9, it is vital to understand the text: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
