Have You Forgotten Who You Are? The Magnificence of Our Position in Christ

Here are notes for Bible fellowship tonight. Blessings. “Who are you?” is a question that has plagued the heart of many Christians. How have we changed in the new birth and what have we become in Christ? Most Christians have no idea of the wealth of their inheritance and their true identity in Christ. Massive confusion and ignorance reigns in modern day Christianity of what God has made us to be as Christians and the limitless potential of this new life. This has caused a major identity crisis in the church among believers who have little knowledge and understanding of who they are as born again Christians. This has caused rampant unbelief, fear, doubt and apathy to enter the heart of Christians holding them in bondage to a weak, powerless, worthless, valueless and insignificant image of themselves that they carry around in their minds and thinking. This identity crisis is at the root of spiritual weakness in our walk as Christians and has hindered us from fulfilling the purpose and calling God has set for each one of our lives. We must understand the significance of our calling as Christians if we are to ever to love and serve God in our generation. God expects us not to be ignorant of whom we are in Christ for our enemy is continually blinding hearts and minds to these awesome life-changing truths. One of the major tactics of the kingdom of darkness is to get you to question and doubt your identity in Christ as revealed in the Bible. A lifestyle of defeat arises out of a poor perception of who we are in Christ. We become the prodigal son who wastes his life until he has an epiphany and begins to realize his standing in his father’s household.

Luke 15:17-24 (NKJV): “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! 18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, 19 and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.”’20 “And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. 21 And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.’22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. 23 And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; 24 for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry.

The prodigal son CAME TO HIMSELF and realized he did not have to wallow in the mud in the pig pen of life. The Father was looking for Him and anxiously waiting for his son to come back to his household and enjoy the honor and blessing of being a son. Do you realize the awesome honor, privilege and blessing it is to be a son or daughter of God Almighty, birthed into the family of God.

I John 3:1,2 (NIV): See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
Do you understand the incredible, fathomless and immeasurable love that God bestowed upon us by making us his beloved sons and daughters for all eternity in Christ?’ Do you know the honor and dignity that God has bestowed upon to call you a son or daughter and welcome you into the family of God!

The first two temptation of Jesus Christ was to try to get Him to doubt who he was, to doubt his God-given identity as the only begotten Son of God as the Devil began the temptation by saying, “IF YOU ARE THE SON OF GOD” He had just heard God say after his baptism-this is my beloved Son who I am well –pleased. Who was He going to believe God his Father or The Devil as to his identity?

We as believers are meant to live up to our God-given potential and the foundation of our behavior, our walk and our success in the Christian life comes from an understanding of who we are in Christ. The Gospels show Jesus never had an identity crisis. He said “I know where I came from and where I am going.” He said “I proceeded forth and came from God, nor have I come of myself, but He sent me.” Jesus said without hesitation-“ I am the bread of life…I am the light of the world…I am the resurrection and the life…I am the way, truth and life…I am the door.” Both Jesus intimate’ relationship with God the Father and His earthly ministry were rooted in His complete understanding of his identity. It became the unshakable foundation for the course of His life on the earth. Jesus Christ was the most humble man on the face of the earth but Jesus knew who he was and stood fast on this knowledge. Do you know who you are as revealed in Scripture? No matter what we face, WE MUST LIVE BY WHAT GOD SAYS ABOUT US not by what others think about us. As Christians we find our identity in Scripture. When we know, believe and understand our heavenly position, calling and authority in Christ, it will revolutionize our thinking, our walk with God and our service for Him. Like Him we must go to the Word of God and find our identity in what it says about us. And when we face our battles, the knowledge of who we are will fill us with tremendous strength and the assurance that as sons and daughters of the Living God, we indeed will be more than overcomers.

I Thessalonians 1:4: Knowing, beloved brethren, your election by God.

Message: It is clear to us, friends, that God not only loves you very much but also has put his hand on you for something special.

Do you know that God chose you? How much worth do you have in the eyes of God if He chose you and paid the ultimate price to purchase you by sacrificing His son for your salvation? You are God’s beloved. You are God’s treasure. You are God’s object of affection. You are the apple of God’s eye and the Gem of His heart. His thoughts of love toward you are countless. He thinks about you all the time. You are always on His mind. You are his special and beloved child. He has great plans for you. Beloved brethren, do you know and have you experienced this great truth of your election by God.

Ephesians 2:10 (NLT):

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created
us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good
things he planned for us long ago.

What an awesome responsibility and privilege to be His masterpiece created in Christ Jesus. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you are worthless or will not amount to anything. You are His masterpiece! The first word in the Greek text is “His,” emphasizing we are His workmanship and not our own. We did not save ourselves, and we are not self-made men or women. This workmanship is all of God and originates from His loving heart. .

The word “masterpiece” is the Greek word poiema, which means “a thing made or produced with effort, object, and design; a work of art especially a poetic product, and a masterpiece.” We are God’s poetic masterpiece. God is the poet, the sculptor, and the artist, and we are the masterpiece. Poetry is masterfully chosen words, which mixed with rhythm and sound, express great depth of meaning and emotion. A poem is an expression of a vision that is rendered in a form that arouses the emotions and touches the heart. Poetry is the chiseled marble of language, it is a paint spattered canvas, but the poet uses words instead of paint, and the canvas is the human heart. Poetry evokes emotion and deep thought, often calling the human heart to action. Poetry inspires, enlightens, defines, and unfolds.

Once we are created in Christ Jesus as a son or daughter of God, God wants our lives to be His poetic masterpiece to the world. God wants our lives to be a beautiful poem of His love and goodness that inspires, touches, and stirs the human heart to return to the loving arms of God Almighty.

Matthew 5:13,14 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how will it be made salty again? It is good for nothing anymore, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”

God declares our identity to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. We are to shine and become God’s flavor to the world.

Ephesians 1:3-10 (Phillips): Praise be to God for giving us through Christ every possible spiritual benefit as citizens of Heaven! For consider what he has done—before the foundation of the world he chose us to become, in Christ, his holy and blameless children living within his constant care. He planned, in his purpose of love, that we should be adopted as his own children through Jesus Christ—that we might learn to praise that glorious generosity of his which has made us welcome in the everlasting love he bears towards the Son. It is through the Son, at the cost of his own blood, that we are redeemed, freely forgiven through that full and generous grace which has overflowed into our lives and opened our eyes to the truth.

Our identity in Christ is that we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing and benefit; we have been made holy, made lovely, made acceptable and chosen to be His sons in Christ. We are redeemed, forgiven, saved by grace and displayed through the ages as the wonder of his mercy and grace.

A.W. Tozer in I Talk Back to the Devil: The Fighting Fervor of the Victorious Christian says:

The Devil makes it his business to keep Christians in bondage, bound and gagged, actually imprisoned in their own grave clothes…He knows that if we continue in this type of bondage, we will never be able to claim our spiritual heritage…Satan has been in this business of intimidating and silencing and oppressing the people of God for a long, long time…I am sure it is not glorifying to God that Christians should be so intimidated and silence in our day… Satan is an old dragon that defies us to this hour. He is saying to Christians, “I defy you- what are you going to do about it?”…This has to be the secret of our praise and enthusiasm-Jesus Christ is our Overcomer! In our own strength we cannot overcome anyone or anything…It is for us to trust wholly in the Lord Jesus. This is the only way in which we can conquer fear and live in blessed victory…through Jesus Christ I am the victor! ..Brethren, God never meant for us to be kicked around like a football… when the devil starts tampering with you, dare to resist him! I stand for believing God and defying the devil-and God loves that kind of courage among His people. If you are still wrapped in grave clothes and great fears lie upon you, it is time for you to dare to rise and in sweet faith in the risen Jesus Christ declare: “I will not take this any longer. I am a child of God-why should I go mourning all the day? Will God answer? “All right my child,” He will answer as the burden rolls away, “I have waited long to hear you say that. Jesus is Victor and in Him you overcome!”

Ephesians 2:18-22 (ESV): For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. 19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. 22 In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

We are the mobile holy of holies in this grace administration. We have built for the habitation of God through the mighty spirit of God that dwells in us.

II Corinthians 5:17 (NIV):

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is
a new creation; the old is gone; the new
has come.

What a breathtaking truth that in Christ we are a new creation; we have a new divine nature; we are new people created in the likeness of our Lord Jesus Christ, and we are His seed. The word “creation” in the Greek means: to bring something into existence that has not existed before; the act of founding, establishing, and building through creation, and refers to God’s creative action. The word “new” in the Greek means: that which is new in kind or quality, and is something unprecedented, novel, uncommon, and unheard of. It relates to something not previously present. This word “new” does not mean that something is simply renovated, but something that it is entirely new in species and character.

By the divine act and will of God, He founded, established, and built a new spiritual nature in all born again believers. This new creation is of perfect quality and character, because it originates from the creative heart of God. It is absolutely unprecedented in the nature of a person because it is a divine seed planted by God. We become partakers of the divine nature, and in Christ we have a dynamically powerful new spiritual nature. This is a spiritual birth and the seed of God within us is permanent, incorruptible, and indestructible. Once you are born of your earthly parents, you are always their child because you have their seed within you. The same holds true for the spiritual new birth in Christ, as this incorruptible seed of God is created within you, and you forever become God’s new spiritual son or daughter of God.

Bullinger, in his article “A New Creation” expounds on this new creation:

What is it to create? Not to change, not to
renovate, not to reform, not to improve,
not the old nature adorned and beautified,
not the flesh with its corruptions and lust
trimmed and trained; but it is the new and
Divine nature imparted, with all its spiritual
blessings and holy privileges. It is not the
old Adam made clean or religious, clothed
and adorned. No! It is something altogether
NEW. Therefore in Christ Jesus, I am a partaker
of the Divine nature; I am a partaker of His
Resurrection-life, according to the Father’s
promise…A new Divine nature is not a mere
influence, is not a mere passing religious
feeling induced by ravishing music or pathetic
story, but a real existence in living union with
a crucified, risen, exalted, glorified, coming
Lord. What a glorious union!

E. W. Kenyon, in The Bible in the Light of our Redemption, further elaborates on this new creation:

Down through the ages of human history, every step,
every dealing of God with man has been toward one
goal-a New Creation, a spiritual creation of man that
would free man completely from spiritual death and
satanic dominion…What a floodtide of human suffering
and misery has the reign of Satan brought to the human
heart…All human suffering is the result of Satan’s
lordship over humanity. Human suffering may be
caused by the cruelty and selfishness of others, by
our own sins, by sickness, by circumstance, but it may
all be traced to the reign of Satan. Therefore, man’s
difficulty centers in the need for a new Lord. Satan
is a hard taskmaster…The Lordship of Christ means
a New Nature, a New Family, a New Father. Christ
died and rose again that He might meet the need of
man for a new Lord…What a message of joy, what
glad tidings we have to bring to an unsaved world,
the message of this new Lord for man…By a man’s
calling unto this new Lord, the power and authority
of Satan will be broken over his life…The Lordship of Christ                                                                                                                                                                             means freedom from the reign of sin…Christ has undone the                                                                                                                                                                    works of Satan in the human heart. This
means that sin has absolutely lost its power over the
New Creation. . .

The sin nature has no power, no authority, and no mastery over the New Creation. Every spiritual blessing we have in Christ is wrapped up and inherent in this New Creation. No work of the devil can defeat or diminish or conquer this New Creation. Satan had been the master of the human race from the Fall to the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ, but in the resurrected and ascended Christ, a new day dawned for the world. The power of the great enemy, the crafty serpent, and deceitful slanderer has been permanently broken, crushed, and defeated in our wonderful Lord Jesus. We have a new Lord, who has ushered us into a new age of spiritual, mental, and physical freedom and the crushing of every yoke of bondage that has held us in its grasp. .

Romans 5:1-5 (Amplified):Therefore, since we are justified (acquitted, declared righteous, and given a right standing with God) through faith, let us [grasp the fact that we] have [the peace of reconciliation to hold and to enjoy] peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).2 Through Him also we have [our] access (entrance, introduction) by faith into this grace (state of God’s favor) in which we [firmly and safely] stand. And let us rejoice and exult in our hope of experiencing and enjoying the glory of God.

Ray Steadman: We have two alternatives in assessing our identity. There really are but two, and they are totally different. Each provides promises, and each results in its own distinct life-style. Each requires commitment, and each precludes the other. We may attempt neutrality, but that is only an illusion. Life confronts us with the necessity of choosing. We may try to compromise, but that will result in hopeless ambivalence and fragmentation. It is not a choice between verities. God is Truth, and apart from him there is no truth. Truth by its very nature is absolute and therefore uncompromising. To choose a God-centered identity is to opt for truth, the unfolding of reality. A self-focused identity is spurious and pseudo, counterfeit truth, camouflaged reality. It denies the truth about who we are, and alienates us from God, our Creator, by denying him his rightful prerogatives. The fragmentation of today indicates that we were never intended to have a self-focused identity. God made us for himself, and only in relationship with him can we know who we are. He has not left us without a revelation of our identity. It is delineated in the manual issued by our Maker. That manual is his Word. .

I find Christians all over this country who do not understand this truth about their new life in Christ. The truth from which they get their identity is this fact: Jesus is in them and lives in them. It is to this fact that they should return whenever there are pressures and problems and demands made upon them, because it is from this fact that the secret of life will flow to them.

E.W. Kenyon: There are some things Eternal Life has given us. If we realized what we were in Christ and knew that we had the ability to be what God says we are, our lives would be transformed in a week. We do not understand what Redemption and the New Creation have made us. We do not realize what we are to the Father’s heart and what He is to us. Most of us are theological Christians instead of Bible Christians. We have theological experiences and are ever attempting to square the Word with those experiences.

Col. 1:13 14: “Who delivered us out of the authority of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of the son of his love!” That is Satan’s authority. If we are delivered out of his authority, he can no longer reign over us. Yet the great body of the Church is living under the dominion of the adversary as though it had never been Born Again. What is the matter? He delivered us out of the authority of Satan, and He translated us into the kingdom of the Son of His Love. Put it in the first person. You are the one who has been delivered. You are the one who has been translated into God’s kingdom and family. In Christ you have your Redemption, the remission of everything that you ever did. You are now an actual child of God just as Jesus was in His earth walk. You have the same standing that Jesus had, because Jesus is your standing. He has become your righteousness.

I Peter 1:3-7: All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.

Our identity is wrapped up in our priceless inheritance. To really understand our identity we must set our focus on eternity.

E. W. Kenyon: Romans 3:26: “That he might himself be righteous, and the righteousness of him that hath faith in Jesus!” (Literal translation)
You have faith in Jesus as your Substitute. So God has become your righteousness.
When you believe this, you will come out of bondage and weakness and failure into the fullness of this new Life in Christ. You are the sons of God. You are heirs of God and joint-heirs with Jesus Christ (Romans 8:17). You are redeemed. I Cor. 6:20: “For ye were bought with a price.” Why do we become the slaves of wrong teaching, the slaves of Sense Knowledge? That price was the blood of Christ. There is no joint ownership between Christ and the world. You either belong to the devil or you belong to Christ. Christ purchased you with His own blood. I Pet. 1:18, 19: “Knowing that ye were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from your vain manner of life handed down from your fathers; but with precious blood as of a lamb without blemish and without spot, even the blood of Christ.” It is the blood of the lamb without spot. You stand before the Father now a redeemed one, without condemnation. The blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, redeemed you. Every claim of justice has been paid. Jesus met the demands of justice and satisfied them. You are free. John 8:36: “If therefore the son shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” You are free from Satan’s dominion. You are a New Creation, a child of God. You have been redeemed from the hand of your enemy. You are to take this fact seriously. You are to order your life accordingly. Romans 6:14: “Sin shall not have dominion over you.” Satan was defeated by your Master. That defeat stripped him of his ability to take you captive without your cooperation. The two phases of Christ’s ministry in Redemption are: Jesus paying the price of your Redemption, and defeating your enemy and setting you free. Col. 2:15: “Having despoiled the principalities and the powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it!” He triumphed over the adversary. He defeated the enemy. His triumph was your triumph. That battle was your battle. He was not fighting for Himself.

II Corinthians 5: 20,21 (ESV): Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Righteousness is one of the most misunderstood words in the Bible. Righteousness is one of the most fundamental and important sonship rights of the Christian believer, yet it so often neglected in the walk of most Christians. It is only when you understand righteousness and live in it that you can accomplish your calling in this world as a son or daughter of God. What is the biblical definition of righteousness? Righteousness is the God-given ability to stand in the presence of God without any sense of guilt, condemnation, shame, or unworthiness and to stand in the presence of Satan without any sense of inferiority, weakness, fear, or cowardice. Righteousness is to be legally brought into a right relationship and standing with God that will last forever. Righteousness is part of our salvation in Christ and rests upon God’s act of justification, where he legally declared us free from the penalty of sin and judicially delivered us from everything that stands in the way of us being declared righteous.

“Justification” is a legal term similar to a verdict from a judge, where by a judicial act, God declares that all the demands of the law have been completely satisfied and fulfilled for the believing sinner by the righteous act of Jesus Christ. Justification changes forever the judicial standing of a person before God from being dead in trespasses in sins to being completely righteous in Christ and completely free from the death penalty of sin. You have been judged and found righteous. You have been acquitted, found not guilty, and restored to a right relationship with your heavenly Father. You have been declared legally innocent and pronounced forever righteous because of the blood of Christ. This is a permanent state for the Christian believer, as this declaration of righteousness can never be repealed, overturned, or declared null and void. There is no double jeopardy, where a person would be tried for the same crimes again in a court of the law. The court of heaven, with God as the righteous judge, has forever pronounced a verdict to His entire creation that you have been made the righteousness of God, completely justified, free from the bondage and penalty of sin, and able to boldly stand in His presence without any sense of sin, condemnation, guilt, or unworthiness. This verdict has been sealed in the blood of Christ, and no satanic power can overthrow it.You can also stand in the presence of the devil and his entire kingdom in absolute victory, knowing that you have been completely delivered from the power of darkness. The devil is under your feet and has no authority anymore over you, because Jesus Christ forever crushed and paralyzed the evil one from hurting, harming, or ruining your new life in Christ. Now that is a verdict worth talking about! It is the foundation of the gospel of Christ that we proclaim to the world.

Jesus Christ was our complete substitute for sin and the consequences of sin, and we have been made the righteousness of God in him. The word “made” in the Greek means: to bring into existence, to begin to be, to become, and implies origin through a special agency. It signifies the entrance into a new condition. We now have become a new creation and entered into a new condition of righteousness. God alone has brought into existence our new life of righteousness, and He has given to us His actual righteousness, which becomes just as much a part of us as our leg or arm. We are the righteousness of God! What a liberating truth to know that we are now in full and legal possession of the righteousness of God as a living part of us. We can live, move, and breathe in this glorious righteousness every moment of the day.

Righteousness restores everything Adam lost in the Fall and allows us to enter into an intimate relationship with our Heavenly Father. Righteousness reinstates a person into right standing in the literal presence of God with full rights and privileges, as a child of God. In the Old Testament, only the high priest could enter the literal presence of God (in the Holy of Holies) in the Temple on the Day of Atonement. When Jesus Christ cried out, It is finished” on the cross and took his last breath, the veil that separated the Holy of Holies from the rest of the temple was completely torn from the top to bottom, signifying that through Jesus Christ all barriers to the presence of God have been removed. Jesus Christ made available a new and living way of righteousness, where a man, woman, or child can have 24 hours a day access to the throne of God and stand in His wonderful presence. Access to God’s throne room is never closed, never blocked, and never limited for the Christian believer.

Ephesians 3:12 (Amplified):

In Whom, because of our faith in Him, we dare
to have the boldness (courage and confidence)
of free access (an unreserved approach to God
with freedom and without fear).

Righteousness gives us an unreserved and unlimited approach to God with boldness and complete confidence. Righteousness restores fellowship with God to a person whereby we can walk and live in deep intimacy and companionship with our Heavenly Father.

David Needham, in Birthright, Christian, Do You Know Who You Are?, states:

I hope it will be clear that the answer to the problem
of sin and the despair of meaninglessness is found in
discovering the vast scope of the miracle God performed
when he saved you-a miracle that actually changed you…
By physical conception my parents gave me “flesh” birth.
I became a real, full-fledged, “flesh” person…Similarly
by the new birth, I became a brand-new kind of person…
The divine activity re-makes a man. He is born all over
again by the very Spirit of God…If you have received the Savior, you simply are not the same person you were before.
You may weigh the same, look the same, feel the same
but you are not the same…God has not only justified
you and reconciled you, he has also birthed you…children
of God….Could this really be? “Children,” not by adoption,
but by birth. Yes, emphatically it is true…Even after it
was known the Savior had risen, seven weeks passed
before anyone grasped the pivotal importance of his death
and resurrection. Finally on the Day of Pentecost, the fire
fell; the Spirit came. From deep within “rivers of living
water” flowed…The risen Christ was dispensing LIFE.
By the new birth, realized in its fullness on the Day of
Pentecost, life was theirs as they never experienced it…
Life was now “resurrection life” It means that by the new birth, you and I are now participants in the ultimate new age of God’s eternal purposes. We are living within the fulfillment of the prophets’ aching dreams and God’s promised miracle. We are now actually, the internally transformed citizens in God’s kingdom of righteousness-where Jesus reigns,
within the kingdom of our hearts…Christ… is now
reproducing himself progressively in the lives of the
saints. .Now the last Adam [Christ]…is reproducing
his very life-his image-in us!…We are now by birth, by the Spirit, “the children of God,” pulsating with the risen life of Jesus. Someday, perhaps soon, it will reach its apex when at last our “physical …bodies” will be transformed
into “spiritual bodies”-at the “redemption of our
bodies.”…The new aeon [age] which has dawned
with Christ, brings a new creation, the creation of
a new man…the union with Christ which brings
justification also brings new life…The believer
enters not just into a private relationship with Jesus,
but a new humanity in which he becomes a new
kind of man…Jesus Christ is no less than the
inaugurator of a new humanity. New age, new
humanity, new creation. We are both corporately
and individually-part of something which is the
capstone of everything God has or ever will do.

We are the blessed progeny, the new humanity, the new species, the seed of Christ, and children of the living God. We have the gift of holy spirit born within and the resurrection life of Jesus Christ pulsating and energizing every ounce of our being. We are infused with spiritual power from on high and the very divine nature of God. This is what the human heart has been craving for since the fall of Adam: a new creation, authored by God Almighty, that fundamentally changes who we are, and who we will be in the future. We have passed from death unto life, from sin unto righteousness, from condemnation to justification, from separation to reconciliation, and from enemies to beloved children.

James 1:23-25

Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his own face[i] in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but one who does good works—this person will be blessed in what he does.

Let us never forget what kind of men and women we are in Christ. Let us never doubt our true identity as revealed in Scripture. Let’s be doers of the Word by standing boldly on what God has made us to be in Christ and let the blessings of God flow out of our lives to help others in need who are lost, confused and in bondage by proclaiming this true gospel of Christianity to the world.
