Yeshua HaMashiach and the Biblical Truth of the Sabbath Day

Yeshua HaMashiach is the Hebrew name for Jesus the Messiah. This is the Hebrew name for Jesus the Messiah Yeshua HaMashiach with faith and righteousness at its core. Yeshua, Jesus The Messiah, did not come to destroy The Sabbath, but to restore its True Purpose and bring it back into the hearts of His people.

The Sabbath as a Sign Between God and His People

The Sabbath is not just a day of rest, it’s a “sign.” It is A Visible, Set-Apart Covenant between God and his people. As stated in the scriptures:

  • “Moreover also I Gave them My Sabbaths, to be a sign between Me and them, that they might know that I AM The LORD (YHVH, Yahweh) that sanctifies them.” (Ezekiel 20:12)
  • “And hallow My Sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between Me and you, that you may know that I AM The LORD (YHVH, Yahweh) your God.” (Ezekiel 20:20)

The Hebrew word for “sign” (אוֹת, ot) implies a distinguishing mark, like a banner or flag. When we keep The Sabbath, we are waving God’s Banner over our lives and saying, “I belong to The One True God!” This isn’t about man-made traditions; this is about identity, who we are and Whose we are. We don’t keep Sabbath to be saved… we keep it because we are saved, and desire to walk in The Ancient Path of Truth.

The Example and Custom of Yeshua

Yeshua (Jesus) Kept The Sabbath and Taught in the Synagogues on It. “And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up: and, as His Custom was, He Went into the synagogue on The Sabbath Day, and stood up to read.” (Luke 4:16). Yeshua Observed The Sabbath as His Custom. He Rested, Taught, Healed, and Worshipped on This Day, not once breaking it, because He was without sin (Hebrews 4:15).

If we claim to walk as He Walked, should we not honor The Very Day He Did? “He that says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk, even as He Walked.” (1 John 2:6). He Taught The Sabbath Day’s True Meaning, correcting the distortions of mankind, not The Instruction or Commandment itself.

The Purpose of the Holy Day

“The Sabbath was made for man, not man for The Sabbath.” (Mark 2:27). This reveals The Sabbath is A GIFT, not a burden. He Gave us This Day for our joy, our restoration, and as a weekly reminder of His Eternal Covenant, Protection, Mercy, Grace, and Service… to us. This is about Love… Loving God with all our heart, soul, and strength by doing things… His Way.
