Couples For Christ Intercessory Prayer: The Luminous Mysteries

The document contains prayers and liturgical materials for an opening worship service, including an Act of Contrition, prayers to the Holy Spirit and St. Michael, blessings with holy water, rosary prayers and intentions, the Apostles' Creed, Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be. It provides structure and prayers for vocal and silent worship, focusing on thanksgiving in the opening and including later supplication. The following structure is specifically utilized for the Luminous Mysteries during intercessory prayer sessions.

The Luminous Mysteries and Petitions

Each decade follows a specific pattern: the leader reads the scripture and the petitions, followed by a moment of silence to reflect on our petitions. For this Lord, Hear our prayers. Response: Yes Lord, Hear Our prayers.

1st Mystery: The Baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan

Scripture: “And when Jesus was baptized…The heavens were opened and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and alighting on Him, and lo, a voice from the heaven, saying, ‘this is My beloved son, with whom I am well pleased.’” (Mt. 3:16-17)

Prayer Intention: In this decade, we shall offer our prayers for the world.

2nd Mystery: The Wedding at Cana

Scripture: “His mother said to the servants, ‘Do whatever He tells you.’ Jesus said to them, ‘Fill the jars with water’. And they filled them up to the brim.” (Jn. 2:5-7)

Prayer Intention: In this decade, we shall offer our prayers for the country.

3rd Mystery: The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God

Scripture: “…and preach as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast our demons. You receive without pay, give without pay.” (Mt. 10:7-8)

Prayer Intention: In this decade, we shall offer our prayers for the Church, our community and our CFC Leaders.

Core Prayers of the Rosary

These traditional prayers are recited throughout the intercessory service:

  • The Lord’s Prayer: Our Father, Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
  • Hail Mary: Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death. Amen.
  • Glory Be: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
  • Fatima Prayer: O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those who are in most need of Thy mercy.
  • Prayer to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal: O Mary conceived without sin, Pray for us who have recourse to thee.
