Prophetic Numbers: Biblical Communication and the Messiah’s Arrival
From a Bible-based perspective, what does “seeing numbers” mean? Numbers are just another form of God’s communication, or a language if you will. It’s important to remember that numbers are just another way the King’s prophetic voice is getting people’s attention today. The key is interpreting what God is saying through seeing repetitive number sequences such as 911, 1111, 2222, 818, 333, etc.
The Meaning of Seeing Repetitive Numbers
Many individuals have said, “I’m seeing the same number everywhere!” and wondered what on earth this could mean. For instance, seeing 1234 over and over and over can become a common, everyday experience. Through the simplicity of constantly seeing 1234, God may be saying: “I’m lining everything up for you, as easy as ABC 1234.” In the middle of all the transition and battles we face, these numbers can become a kiss from Heaven that immediately brings peace and reminds us that we can trust God to lead us. It is a way that God answers a heart’s desire to hear from Him, even if His voice comes in a creative, unusual way—like seeing numbers.
Daniel’s Prophecy of the Messiah
Beyond personal experiences, the Bible uses numbers to pinpoint significant historical events. Jehovah revealed to Daniel information that would make it possible to pinpoint the time when Jesus would be anointed, or appointed, as the Messiah, or Christ. The prophet Daniel lived more than 500 years before the birth of Jesus, yet Daniel was told: “You should know and understand that from the issuing of the word to restore and to rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Leader, there will be 7 weeks, also 62 weeks.” (Daniel 9:25)
Calculating the Prophetic Timeline
To determine the time of the Messiah’s arrival, first we need to learn the starting point. According to the Bible writer Nehemiah, the word to rebuild the walls around Jerusalem was issued “in the 20th year of King Artaxerxes.” Historians confirm that the year 474 B.C.E. was Artaxerxes’ first full year as ruler; therefore, the 20th year of his rule was 455 B.C.E. This gives us the starting point for Daniel’s Messianic prophecy.
The prophecy mentions “7 weeks, also 62 weeks”—a total of 69 weeks. This concept of weeks of years, or seven-year units, was familiar to Jews of ancient times, where each week represents seven years. Therefore, the prophetic 69 weeks amount to 69 units of 7 years each, or a total of 483 years.
The Remarkable Fulfillment
Now all we must do is count. If we count from 455 B.C.E., a period of 483 years takes us to the year 29 C.E. That was exactly the year when Jesus was baptized and became the Messiah! Is that not a remarkable fulfillment of Bible prophecy? Furthermore, Jesus was “cut off” in death in 33 C.E., during the 70th week of years.
